A project was presented which will invest 30 million kuna in existing and new facilities on Medvednica. Medvednica Nature Park within the project “Improvement of visitor capacity for the purpose of sustainable management of the Medvednica Nature Park” will finally be arranged by the long-awaited “Medvedgrad Visitor Center”. The idea of arranging a Visitor Center in Medvedgrad has existed since the Public Institution “Nature Park Medvednica” took over Medvedgrad in mid-2010. Until the seventies of the last century, Medvedgrad was left to decay, when archaeological research of the site began. During the nineties, Medvedgrad was renovated and given its present appearance. However, only with the withdrawal of funds from the EU, the opportunity was realized to finally establish a Visitor Center within Medvedgrad. The project includes the establishment of a visitor center in the medieval town of Medvedgrad and the upgrade of the sustainable visitor offer of the Park. The center will contain an information center with a souvenir shop and a toilet – reception and information about Parr, a modern multifunctional hall – for professional meetings, presentations and educational workshops, an open-air central square – for various events, a catering facility and multimedia exhibitions – interpretation of mysterious the story of the mountain and man and the nature that surrounds itPhoto: PP MedvednicaThe main facilities of the Medvedgrad Visitor Center will be located at three locations in Medvedgrad. Thus, for example, in the South Tower there will be a permanent exhibition: “In the Kingdom of Ancient Forests”, and on the crown of the South Tower there will be a Lookout Tower. In the area of the Grand Palace, there will be a permanent exhibition of the exhibition “Enchanted History”, but also a multifunctional hall and a catering space. In addition to arranging the Visitor Center, the project also envisages arranging bicycle routes, signalization within the boundaries of the Park and enriching the educational and interpretive offer by designing a series of programs. The project “Improvement of visitor capacity for the purpose of sustainable management of the Medvednica Nature Park” was contracted within the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion. The total value of the project is HRK 37.726.252,75, of which HRK 29.695.351,77 is the total eligible cost. The project is co-financed by the European Union with HRK 24.223.502,00 in grants from the European Regional Development Fund and the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency with HRK 2.921.296,22.

Pennsylvania Commissions Jointly Issue Statement Honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg SHARE Email Facebook Twitter September 29, 2020
African American Affairs, Asian Pacific American Affairs, Equality, Latino Affairs, Press Release, Statement, Women’s Rights The Pennsylvania Commissions on Women, African American, Latino, Asian Pacific American and LGBTQ Affairs, overseen by Gov. Tom Wolf, released a joint statement today honoring the life and work of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.Moriah Hathaway, executive director of the Pennsylvania Commission for Women, stated:“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a champion for women and girls during her lifetime. She fought for equal pay, reproductive justice, LGBTQ equity and so much more. She always advocated for the most vulnerable and gave women a voice when they did not have one. Justice Ginsburg continuously upheld her commitment to the United States Constitution and the Supreme Court. The Pennsylvania Commission for Women will continue the work that she left behind. We know that the fight for equality and access to affordable health care remains unfinished. Justice Ginsburg said it best, ‘women belong in all places where decisions are being made.’ The Commission hopes to continue advancing the rights of women and girls across the state and the country to truly honor her legacy.”Jalila Parker, executive director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on African American Affairs stated:“As a black woman, I thank Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for using her lived experience as a woman to shape her opinions granting women legal protection and precedent. The country has lost a partner in the civil rights movement in the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her landmark decisions and dissents moved us forward in protecting women and affirming our right to choose who we love, and acknowledged the complexities of our Constitution.”Luz Colon, executive director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs (GACLA), stated:“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a notable defender of Latino rights. She vehemently blocked the citizenship status question from the Census and was a fierce supporter of the Affordable Care Act that affects millions of Latinos. She opposed the partial derogation of the Voting Rights Act, which was intended to suppress the Latino vote, among others. Her famous quote is still relevant today: ‘Throwing out preclearance when it has worked and is continuing to work to stop discriminatory changes is like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet.’ In support of immigrant rights, she affirmed the decision that President Trump did not properly terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. She also advocated against the indefinite holding of immigrants in detention camps. The Latino people mourn the loss of a great Justice, warrior and advocate for our community.”Stephanie Sun, executive director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, stated:“Many Americans can recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and yet sadly, there appears to be so many Americans who do not understand the meaning of ‘liberty and justice for all.’ Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg understood what it means to be an American and fought tirelessly for women’s rights – but more than that she fought tirelessly for the rights and equality of all Americans. She advanced justice for millions, including Americans of Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry. She is a true American hero, not just of our time, but for all time. Her passing has left an emptiness in the soul of our nation, but her spirit is awakening our commitment to the pursuit of justice.”Rafael Álvarez Febo, executive director of the Pennsylvania Commission on LGBTQ Affairs, stated:“The legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one rooted in preserving and expanding the rights of all Americans. From her tireless pursuit of justice for women to her role in landmark Supreme Court decisions to guarantee marriage equity and civil right protections for LGBTQ individuals in the workplace, Justice Ginsburg had a deep understanding that laws should be tools to create a fairer and more just society. During such a tumultuous time in our county’s history her loss and the vacancy her passing creates on the highest court in the land cannot be understated. May her legacy also be a call to action for all Americans to mobilize and continue fighting for the rights we all deserve.”The Commissions will continue to work closely with community stakeholders and Gov. Wolf to advocate for marginalized individuals and to honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy.

The Terraces on Parkview Parade in Ecco Ripley are proving to be an affordable investment opportunity in a growth corridor.A SEARCH of South East Queensland for the perfect investment property has led this couple to purchase a terrace home in Ecco Ripley. Daniel and Gay Baxter said the chance to secure an affordable new home as an investment, in the Ripley Valley region was too good to resist.“We had searched everywhere for the perfect investment, from Mooloolaba through to Ipswich but nothing felt right,” Mr Baxter said. “When we’re searching for an investment property, it needs to be somewhere we can see ourselves living and that’s why we decided to purchase at Ecco Ripley.“We loved absolutely everything about the product and purchased a Terrace home immediately after viewing the product for the first time.” Daniel Baxter (pictured) and his wife Gay have bought an investment property in The Terraces on Parkview Parade at Ecco Ripley after searching from Mooloolaba to Ipswich for the perfect investment. The Ipswich couple live in a nearby development and decided to buy into The Terraces at Parkview Parade after a recent visit to Ecco Ripley, giving them a foothold in the investment opportunity they see unfolding. The collection of contemporary two and three-bedroom homes designed and built exclusively by Sekisui House, have been popular with owner-occupiers who account for 67 per cent of sales so far. Mr Baxter said the fact The Terraces had no body corporate fees was a major drawcard for the couple. They also have a fixed-price contract, with a $2000 deposit and balance payable on completion.More from newsMould, age, not enough to stop 17 bidders fighting for this homeless than 1 hour agoBuyers ‘crazy’ not to take govt freebies, says 28-yr-old investorless than 1 hour ago“Small fees add up, so it was great this home had no body corporate fees which diminished our overall costs,” he said. Within two days of contracting a real estate agent to rent the property, the Baxters had four tenant applications and are currently in the process of choosing the right one. “We are pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the entire process was,” Mr Baxter said. “From dealing with Sekisui House through to finding appropriate tenants, the whole procedure was seamless and trouble-free.” The Terraces sit in an elevated position and are close to both local parks and the future $1.5 billion Ripley Town Centre. It was the growth potential of the Ripley Valley region that originally attracted the Baxters to the area.“Ecco Ripley is such a great investment and with the Ripley Town Centre well under way all the amenities you need are on your doorstep,” he said. “Sekisui House has done a fabulous job in creating a masterplanned community and an investment opportunity that is too good to turn down.” Ecco Ripley Queensland sales manager Scott Blaney said each of the 36 Terraces homes in the Parkview Parade release has been individually designed and positioned to suit the exact location. “Internal configurations have been optimised to harness natural light, promote cross ventilation and encapsulate views of the surrounding mountain ranges,” Mr Blaney said. “They are conveniently positioned close to the Ripley Town Centre, where the first stage is under construction and due to open early in 2018.”There are only seven homes remaining for sale at The Terraces in Parkview Parade with a mix of single and double storey homes available.

Stuff co.nz 2 August 2019Family First Comment: Aiding and abetting confusion.#biologymattersChanging the sex marker on a birth certificate has become easier for transgender and non-binary Kiwis after the removal of fees from Wednesday this week. The decision was made by Internal Affairs Minister Tracey Martin who said it was important to make “long called-for practical improvements” to the current system while legal issues with the Births, Deaths, Marriages and Relationships Registration (BDMRR) Bill were being worked through. An advisory group has also been set up to assist more changes that can be made to “further reduce barriers” to changing registered sex.The group will consist of representatives from the transgender and intersex community as well as medical and legal experts and will meet from August to December this year, providing recommendations to the Minister “early next year”.Both announcements are likely in part in response to the deferral in February of changes to the BDMRR Bill, which would make it easier for transgender people to change the gender on their birth certificates by changing the process to a statutory declaration model, also known as “self-identification”.READ MORE: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/114715859/govt-to-remove-birth-certificate-gender-change-fee

”We had a great first year when I came here. Last year we had a very hard year, a very, very tough year (when Everton finished 11th in the Premier League, 12 months on from coming fifth). ”But we’ll learn from it. He’s (Stones) in a good situation. He needs to keep on doing what he’s doing. He has the Euros (Euro 2016) coming up, so why go?” Lukaku was speaking ahead of Everton’s home league clash with Manchester City on Sunday. City have looked formidable so far this term in 3-0 victories at West Brom and at the Etihad Stadium against champions Chelsea last weekend. But Toffees forward Steven Naismith has stressed Everton are in fearless mood given both the Southampton game and their notable efforts against the Premier League’s big hitters over the last few years. “Confidence is really high with the performance against Southampton, and one of the biggest positives from that was the clean sheet,” Naismith – who scored in Everton’s 1-1 draw with City at Goodison Park last season – told Press Association Sport. “We can build on that, and we have done well in the last few seasons not only against Man City but a lot of the top teams. “We have shown we can compete with them and challenge them, so it will be more of the same. That is the mindset we have. We believe we can and we are confident enough to get results against the big teams.” Martinez has emphasised he will not hesitate to pick Stones for the City game despite the ongoing transfer speculation. :: For a second year, Steven Naismith is donating tickets for Everton home matches to unemployed football fans throughout the season in an initiative with Jobcentreplus centres across Liverpool. Lukaku, 22, left Stamford Bridge permanently last summer after finding regular football hard to come by. The Belgium international, who had loan spells from Chelsea with the Toffees and West Brom before that, feels 21-year-old England defender Stones is at the right club to nurture his development. Romelu Lukaku has urged team-mate John Stones to stay with him in what is a “good situation” at Everton rather than join the striker’s former club Chelsea. ”To be fair John is in a good situation at a good club which believes in him,” Lukaku told several national newspapers. ”He is playing and is learning a lot from (defender) Phil Jagielka. He’s been here two years now but this is the year where he really needs to confirm he is the top player he can be. ”This club has massive potential, with the players we have and the ambition the manager has. He is in a good place. He’s on to a good thing.” Stones has been the subject of interest from Chelsea throughout the summer, with Everton rejecting big-money bids and repeatedly saying the player is not for sale. Despite the saga, Stones has played both games of the Toffees’ 2015/16 Barclays Premier League campaign so far, impressing as they drew 2-2 at home with Watford before stunning Southampton 3-0 at St Mary’s last week. It was reported on Friday that Stones is close to putting in a transfer request, but Everton manager Roberto Martinez said he was not aware of that and that it would not change the club’s stance if he did. Lukaku feels Everton have collected a strong core of young talent that can only get better if they stick together. ”We are young, but we have a lot of potential,” Lukaku – scorer of a brace against Southampton – added. Virat Kohli backs Vijay Shankar ahead of the clash against England on June 30.Vijay Shankar is yet to hit a half-century in 2019 World Cup.India is one win away from sealing a semi-final spot in World Cup. For all the Latest Sports News News, ICC World Cup News, Download News Nation Android and iOS Mobile Apps. Birmingham: Putting his weight firmly behind under-pressure Vijay Shankar, skipper Virat Kohli Saturday said the all-rounder is very close to playing a defining knock for India in the World Cup. Kohli’s vote of confidence ahead of the England game means that Rishabh Pant will have to wait to get his first game.Asked about his assessment of Shankar, Kohli said, “It’s a strange one because he had a decent game against Pakistan. I think against Afghanistan on that pitch he looked really assured. Shot selection, again, we discussed with him for that game. Last game, again, he came out, he looked really good, and he got a beautiful ball from Kemar Roach.”Shankar scored 29 against Afghanistan and was involved in a 50 plus stand with his skipper. “So you can’t really sit down and pinpoint things. But I personally felt he looked really solid. There’s not much that needs to be tinkered. Sometimes in cricket you just need a bit of luck to get over from 30 to 60, and then you play a defining knock for the team.”He’s very close to that, and we’re very confident he’s going to end up playing that kind of knock for us,” said the world number one batsman. He did not read much into Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s slow strike-rate in the previous couple of games and Kohli once again reiterated that the former skipper “knows what he’s doing”. “I don’t think that he’s ever been a cricketer that’s ever had the need to be told what exactly he needs to do,” he made his point clear.”What we experience and what we know inside the change room is the most important thing to us, and we have total belief in him (Dhoni), and he stood up for the team many times, especially if you look at this calendar year and the kind of performances he’s given. I don’t think it’s fair to point out one or two performances which anyone can falter with the bat,” Kohli was certainly not pleased with the criticism aimed at Dhoni. The middle-order issues remain and Kohli’s defence for the under-fire number 4, 5 and 6 is “lack of balls due to good show from the top-order” on most occasions.”Look, that discussion is always going to go on because we’ve had such a strong top order that these guys have hardly had a chance to bat. When they bat, out of four times, if once or twice it doesn’t come off, then we feel like, oh, it’s not a strong middle-order, but we overlook the times that it has come good,” he added.”If you look at the first three games that we played, the contribution was absolutely fine. We were getting 300 plus, and no one said anything. We were like, oh, this is an amazing batting order.” Then one game where we could not accelerate as much, everyone says that maybe it’s not as strong,” he made his displeasure clear. However this argument from the skipper doesn’t hold much ground since the groundwork in most occasions was done by Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Kohli, himself.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Even though Trinidad and Tobago are eyeing wins in both upcoming World Cup qualifiers in the space of five days, midfielder Kevan George said they will be fully concentrating on the first assignment against Panama today.“Right now it’s not an option,” said the 27-year-old, who plies his trade in the North American Soccer League.“We have to come together as a unit and get a result on Friday (today). It’s a mandatory battle for us on Friday.”T&T face a tricky double-header, with CONCACAF giants Mexico the next opponents next Tuesday. After suffering defeats in their opening games of the confederation qualifying final round last November, the hosts know that only two positive results will revive their flagging campaign.Neither Panama nor Mexico are yet to lose in the competition, with both winning one and drawing one to sit third and second respectively on four points.George, who has been capped over 20 times for T&T, said the key would be the mental approach to the contest at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.“We are all competitors but we have to learn how to separate things and create a balance,” the Jacksonville Armada defensive midfielder noted.“We need to think about the performance and with a good performance there is a greater probability of us winning the game,.”George is one 13 overseas-based included in the squad along with the likes of the Major League Soccer (MLS) trio of former captain Kenwyne Jones, Kevin Molino and Cordell Cato.

When Peony Sun, a class of 2015 Marshall School of Business graduate, asked her father how he felt about her being an entrepreneur, he said that he was in support as long as she was helping others.Sun recognized this opportunity to help others while assisting her friend and fellow Marshall graduate, Sonya Chen’s, move last year.“She couldn’t sell her apartment on the apartment lease group on Facebook or Craigslist,” Sun said. The two students struggled to find someone to take over the lease, eventually locating a subleaser on a Chinese student association website. But, the process led them to realize that most of their success was due to luck and many students struggle with similar circumstances. That is why Sun and Chen came up with the idea for Liradius or “Live in Radius,” a website dedicated to helping college students buy and sell items online.“Our initial idea was that if you wanted to go to a place that is totally strange to you, then you could instantly find friends, furniture, apartments and even the most popular events at the place,” Sun said. “You’re adapting instantly.”The name of the website is reflective of the goal that Sun has for students – to find everything they need within the “radius” of their university. The website also allows students to give and receive help within their own community of students. The website functions like a hybrid of Craigslist and Freecycle.org, where students can post their items and apartments for sale or even give them away for free to other college students in their area.“There’s a huge market for free stuff by international students,” Sun said. “When temporary visas expire [international students] have to get out fast — often throwing furniture pieces away instead of dealing with the hassle of putting it up on eBay or Craigslist.”Currently on the website, desk lamps are one of the most common free items while bookshelves are selling for $15 with the option of having them delivered. In addition, Sun hopes to help students find a better way to sell their textbooks.“You wouldn’t want to sell a book on Craigslist,” Sun said. “Nobody wants it except for college students. That’s the good thing about Liradius, having a ‘student-only’ environment. You get to know people and sell stuff faster.”Networking and building friendships is another distinguishing factor that separates Liradius from other selling platforms. Sun emphasized the importance of helping students build social connections after realizing the difficulties international and exchange students face with making social connections when entering a new school.“We figured, if you can trade your things on eBay, why not trade with your colleagues? That way you can get to know more people and build connections,” Sun said.Sun believes that Facebook and other social networking sites, though updated with the latest events, are often exclusive to those who are “in the know” and require invitations that international and exchange students may not have access to when they first arrive to a new area. In addition, websites such as eBay charge people to sell their items, which is something that Sun does not agree with.“Our primary goal is to serve all college students,” she said. “That means we are not going to charge them for transaction fees or membership costs.”If the site succeeds, the team’s profit would mainly come from ad revenue. In addition to Chen and Sun, three more USC graduates from the Marshall School and the School of Architecture have been part of creating the website. The five co-founders are united in their mission to create a website that can help all students.“Despite all difficulties… and failures, what keeps our team together is our shared objective,” Sun said. “Our desire is to help enhance students’ college experiences through our platform by solving their problems or fulfilling needs. Our company will always prioritize the interests of college students and will not become a commercial tool solely for financial returns.”The website is currently available at liradius.com with a full launch planned for August.
